TECHNOLOGY

Our location at Tufts Medical Center has two MRI scanners. A Phillips 3T with Ambient Experience, and a Philips Achieva XR 1.5T.

3T Philips Ingenia with Ambient Experience is a unique MRI experience with immersive lighting and video features to help create a calm, welcoming environment. This experience, combined with an open-bore design helps reduce anxiety and help patients feel more at ease during their exam. This system includes A.I.-powered imaging software to produces highly detailed images while helping reduce scan times.

1.5T GE high-field system delivers high-quality images to support accurate diagnoses across a wide range of exams. Featuring a traditional MRI opening and advanced imaging technology, it provides reliable results while helping ensure a comfortable and efficient exam experience.

For PET/CT Patients: On Tuesdays our mobile unit houses at Siemens Horizon 16 and on Thursdays there is a Siemens Biograph mCT 40.

What is A.I. Powered Imaging?
Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is a new technique used on many of Shields’ MRI machines. By removing excess noise and artifacts, it creates sharper and clearer images, all while reducing scan times. AI significantly enhances exams—so you spend less time in the scanner and get more-precise results.
