BOSTON, September 22, 2026 — Shields Health today announced that Dr. John Pan, MD, MPH, MBA, has assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer, effective September 1.

In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pan will provide clinical leadership across Shields Health, working closely with physicians, clinical teams and partners to advance quality, support exceptional patient care and help guide the organization’s continued growth and evolution.

“We are excited to have Dr. Pan leading this next chapter of clinical leadership at Shields,” said Peter Ferrari, President, Shields Health. “His clinical expertise, strategic perspective and understanding of the healthcare environment will be tremendously valuable as we continue to grow and evolve. Just as important, he shares our commitment to supporting physicians, strengthening our partnerships and delivering exceptional care to patients.”

A board-certified radiologist, Dr. Pan has built his career across leading academic medical centers and healthcare organizations. His clinical and leadership experience includes Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and South Shore Hospital. He served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and most recently served as Assistant Professor of Radiology at Boston University School of Medicine and Director of Business Development for Boston University Radiological Associates.

Dr. Pan also brings significant healthcare strategy and business experience. He previously served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, where he advised healthcare and life sciences organizations, and has held leadership roles spanning strategic planning, business development, medical affairs and healthcare acquisitions. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, a Master of Public Health from the Harvard University School of Public Health and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

“Shields has built an extraordinary reputation around quality, patient care, and partnership, and I am honored to take on this role,” said Dr. Pan. “I look forward to working closely with our physicians, clinical teams, partners and leaders to build on that strong foundation while continuing to advance how we support patients and the medical community.”

Dr. Pan succeeds Dr. Steve Sweriduk, Medical Director, who helped found Shields and, over 38 years of leadership, played a defining role in building the organization and shaping its longstanding commitment to clinical excellence, quality and physician partnership. Dr. Sweriduk will retire in 2026.
