MEDFORD, Mass. (July 15, 2021) – Shields Health Care Group and MelroseWakefield Healthcare (MWH) are proud to announce Shields Surgery Center, located at 170 Governors Ave in Medford, MA is now fully operational. The 14,129 square foot ambulatory surgery center was designed with the patient experience in mind, and is equipped with three operating rooms and two procedure rooms.
Shields Surgery Center will offer services including ear, nose, and throat (ENT), gastrointestinal (GI), and orthopedic surgeries. After four years of planning, this much anticipated new facility will create a convenient, affordable surgery option for patients from the northern Greater Boston area.

Shields will manage the operations of the site alongside strong partners including MelroseWakefield Healthcare and Tufts Medical Center Physicians Organization, who assisted in the development of the ASC, and surgeons from seven physician practices, including: ENT Consultants; Agility Orthopedics, Tufts; Atrius Health; Excel Orthopedics, Pratt Orthopedics, and Pratt ENT of Tufts New England Medical Center.
