NEWBURYPORT, Mass. – 
Shields Health Care Group (Shields), New England’s largest network of independent imaging centers, and Anna Jaques Hospital (Anna Jaques) today announced that they have expanded their imaging partnership to include access to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner at the diagnostic imaging center located at 25 Highland Avenue. Shields already provides PET/CT services jointly with Anna Jaques.
“We are committed to providing our patients with quality healthcare locally and are pleased to once again partner with Shields Health Care Group to offer MRI services to the North Shore community,” said Mark Goldstein, president and CEO of Anna Jaques Hospital.
A MRI scan involves using a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to provide pictures of organs and structures inside the body, in many cases providing information that cannot be obtained from an X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan.

The Anna Jaques – Shields 1.5T high-field MRI scanner will be available at Anna Jaques Hospital seven days a week starting this month.
